
Representative Barbara Boyd was elected in 1994. She was born on January 31, 1937, received her B.A. Degree in French and English from Miles College in Birmingham, her M.A. in Supervision and Curriculum Development from the University of Alabama, and her Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership and Reading from the University of Alabama. Representative Boyd is a retired educator with over 45 years of service in public and private education, secondary, two-year, and four-year colleges including Jacksonville State University, Gadsden State Community College, and Miles College in Fairfield. Representative Boyd currently serves on the Trustee Board of Murray Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, is a life member of the NAACP, the Alabama New South Coalition, and the Dorcas Art and Social Club in Anniston. Representative Boyd is also a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Phi Delta Kappa, and Kappa Delta Pi. She is the mother of two children, Frank, Jr. and Reginald M. She also has a granddaughter, Angelica C. Boyd.
