
Robert L. Stewart is a native of the historic Selma, Alabama. Earning an academic scholarship to Tuskegee University, he was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in May 2012. In July 2016, he earned a master’s degree from Kennesaw State University. He is engaged in the community by serving as a board member of All Abroad Inc., Steward Board of Shaw Temple AME Zion Church, Urban League Young Professionals, Charter Member of 100 Black Men of America, Inc. (Selma Chapter), and life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Most recently, he was honored by the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) as the 2019 Outstanding Young Alumni of the Year for Tuskegee University. Additionally, he is a 2019 graduate of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute Boot Camp (which is based in Washington D.C. and trains emerging leaders for public service). Currently, he is employed as a Tax Policy Lobbyist for Public Citizen, Inc. a Washington D.C. Think Tank, focused on Consumer Protection and advocacy. In November 2022 He was elected Alabama State Senator representing District 23.
